Teaching
is a kind of profession that requires a lot of dedication and patience. Dealing
with students is not an easy task for every aspiring to be a better teacher.
Teaching is a work of heart because if you didn’t have a lot of patience, it is
hard thing to deal with. As I enter to the big dome of teaching, I am aware to
various possibilities that this profession includes day to day preparing for
the lesson and various task outside the classroom such as doing some paper
works and attending various seminars and trainings for continuous teaching
development. As I had my practice teaching, I witnessed the responsibilities
that every teacher laid in their shoulders. From teaching up to eight hours
straight and dealing with the students that some are hard headed, I really
thought that it is not easy profession. There’s a time that they need to attend
seminar outside the school that last for a weeks and even month. Of course,
even it is paid by the school, the expenses required for that was coming from
their own pocket. But the deep consequences of this are they need to leave
their family for doing their responsibilities as an educator. All of these
things happen in every teacher that I know. For the sake of their job and
profession, they do it because they believe that teaching is a God-given
profession. It is a mission and at the same- a vocation. Changing every
student’s lives is their primary purpose and these are the reason why they
enter it. And all of this make me realized that I am also one of them. The day
that I decided to be a teacher, it is the day that I accept all this realities
and I am sure that I can. Since then in my elementary years up to high school,
I want involving in some reporting and imparting knowledge to my classmate. When
our teacher is not around, I am the one who will teach the subject. I am late
to realize that teaching is my passion so I decided to be an educator. Someday
I see myself as a successful teacher of Social Studies- the subject that I
really like since then. Now I will return the favor to my students and I will
teach them the lesson of this subject to all of my strength. I will try my very
best to eliminate to their minds that Social Studies is a boring subject
because I strongly believe that this subject is not boring. Only the teacher
who teaches is the boring one because they just doing mere story telling
(though this subject is history telling). Someday I will be a successful
licensed professional teacher teaching the students in our community. And I will
make them realize that Social Studies is everything that they can see and also
want them to appreciate and love it. Nowadays, teacher also need to have
continuous education to be familiarize to various trends in education and I see
myself that I will also take my master’s degree and doctoral degree in order
for me to become expert in my chosen profession. I will not every be a teacher
that stick to traditional way (though I will implement it for sometimes)
instead I will be a modern teacher that equip with various learning pedagogy in
order for me to become a flexible teacher.
